Star Wars Themed 6th Birthday Party

The Felon just turned 6 and to celebrate he wanted a pool party at his favorite spot, his Nana and Pop's backyard. With the help of my family, we turned the pool house into a Star Wars Oasis and celebrated our boy by splashing in the pool, having a water ballon fight and whacking candy out of a piñata. My sister found some really great decoration ideas on the internet, so if you are searching for Star Wars ideas, look no further. There were water bottle labels with Princess Leia that said, "Drink me, it's your only hope." Ones with Darth Vadar that said, "I find your lack of thirst disturbing." Labels with Yoda stating, "Drink me you must." Luke Skywalker had a water that said, "Quick, swallow this" and personalized ones that said, " Kellan ( or a guests name) I am your water."  The snack table included a vegetable tray labeled "Vadar Veggies", cheese balls labeled "Thermal Detonators", apples labeled "Edible Ewoks", cookies labeled "Light Sabors", and juice labeled "Yoda Soda".  Our guests left with Pez dispensers, balloons and bags filled with piñata candy. The weather ended up being so nice, that every parent and child ended up in the pool and The Felon had the greatest day.

Sunday Best

There is always a hurricane or tropical storm around The Felon's birthday. So when we were told to battan down the hatches last night, I was ready. We collected our kayaks and boards before dark and then went on a date night in Bridgehampton to enjoy the calm before the storm. We woke up  to a blue sky and our neighbors paddle boarding this morning and no sign of bad weather.  It is so nice out that we celebrated the feast day of Saint Rosalie outside after mass and everyone enjoyed the slight breeze.  These passed 12 days have been chaotic with the Alaskan Assassin away on a trip, but now that he is back we are ready for any storm thrown at us. I'm not sure if it's because I've been with him for half of my life or because I have three littles, but when he is gone everything feels so much harder. Sometimes it's good to have space so that you appreciate everything so much more when it returns. Hopefully this weather doesn't ruin the East Coast's Labor Day, but instead brings everyone closer to their loved ones. I'm kind of excited to have all of my people under one roof, stuck together for quality time. Fingers crossed we lose the Internet too.

Roberta Roller Rabbit Sample Sale

The Roberta Roller Rabbit Sample Sale began today in Southampton at noon. I got there a little before 12:00 and the line was already 40 people deep and winding in front of Bean2tween ( which also is at 70 percent off). I had to wait an hour to get in (while my sister wife/ favorite person in the world watched my littles). The women in line were sweet and excited to get inside, but once inside there were definitely some elbows thrown and people trampled... I was so overwhelmed that I didn't buy all that much. It was REALLY hard to look through sizes when there were 10 other people digging through the same spot. I grabbed two table clothes, two sets of kids cover ups, one cover up for me, 16 napkins, 4 placemats and little boys boxers. The good news is that they restock not just everyday, but every few hours in the beginning. You see sales people running from the sample sale to the RRR store grabbing more merchandise. So definitely get to the sale, but DO NOT bring your littles because it's super hot and chaotic in there and who knows how long the wait will be. Grab some quilts, lamps, beach towels, bags and cover ups and stock up on birthday presents for the year. The last couple of days everything goes down to about $10 so if you have some self control, use it!

Sunday Best

Sunday is my favorite day of the week and today was everything I want in my Sunday.  The littles slept in until close to 8 am and then climbed into bed with us to snuggle. If there is one day of the week where everyone should wake up slow, it's Sunday.  We reminisced about the epic day before and then all gathered around the breakfast table for bacon and eggs. The heat wave from yesterday continued and we were happy about it because after church we had plans for a pool party and beach day. You know you hit the beach at the right time, when the crowd is leaving the parking lot and you see a perfect spot to set up your blanket away from tourists and right behind a well built sand castle. The digging was done for us and all we had to do was gather some shells to spruce up the interior. We hit the showers quickly after that and made it to a "family dinner" with friends in Sag Harbor. A super long table was set up with benches and sunflowers and we ate our jumbalaya and corn bread facing the sea. Our perfect Hamptons night ended with homemade key lime pie and a feeling that we didn't take a second of this beautiful weekend for granted.

My Lovely Summer Girls

"I fell for her in summer, my lovely summer girl,
From summer she is made, my lovely summer girl,
I’d love to spend a winter with my lovely summer girl,
But I’m never warm enough for my lovely summer girl,
It’s summer when she smiles, I’m laughing like a child,
It’s the summer of our lives; we’ll contain it for a while
She holds the heat, the breeze of summer in the circle of her hand. I’d be happy with this summer if it’s all we ever had."
