Star Wars Themed 6th Birthday Party

The Felon just turned 6 and to celebrate he wanted a pool party at his favorite spot, his Nana and Pop's backyard. With the help of my family, we turned the pool house into a Star Wars Oasis and celebrated our boy by splashing in the pool, having a water ballon fight and whacking candy out of a piñata. My sister found some really great decoration ideas on the internet, so if you are searching for Star Wars ideas, look no further. There were water bottle labels with Princess Leia that said, "Drink me, it's your only hope." Ones with Darth Vadar that said, "I find your lack of thirst disturbing." Labels with Yoda stating, "Drink me you must." Luke Skywalker had a water that said, "Quick, swallow this" and personalized ones that said, " Kellan ( or a guests name) I am your water."  The snack table included a vegetable tray labeled "Vadar Veggies", cheese balls labeled "Thermal Detonators", apples labeled "Edible Ewoks", cookies labeled "Light Sabors", and juice labeled "Yoda Soda".  Our guests left with Pez dispensers, balloons and bags filled with piñata candy. The weather ended up being so nice, that every parent and child ended up in the pool and The Felon had the greatest day.

Sunday Best

There is always a hurricane or tropical storm around The Felon's birthday. So when we were told to battan down the hatches last night, I was ready. We collected our kayaks and boards before dark and then went on a date night in Bridgehampton to enjoy the calm before the storm. We woke up  to a blue sky and our neighbors paddle boarding this morning and no sign of bad weather.  It is so nice out that we celebrated the feast day of Saint Rosalie outside after mass and everyone enjoyed the slight breeze.  These passed 12 days have been chaotic with the Alaskan Assassin away on a trip, but now that he is back we are ready for any storm thrown at us. I'm not sure if it's because I've been with him for half of my life or because I have three littles, but when he is gone everything feels so much harder. Sometimes it's good to have space so that you appreciate everything so much more when it returns. Hopefully this weather doesn't ruin the East Coast's Labor Day, but instead brings everyone closer to their loved ones. I'm kind of excited to have all of my people under one roof, stuck together for quality time. Fingers crossed we lose the Internet too.
