A Christmas Eve Proposal
On December 24, 2015 (Christmas Eve) at 8:30 am Kirsten Noel went down to Stehli Beach in Bayville with her beau Robert Warren on a mission to collect beach glass after a week of storms. The weather was unseasonably warm at a record breaking 65 degrees. The beach was empty and the sun just beginning to break out of the clouds when a piece of beach glass caught their eye. Robert reached down for it and then stayed down on one knee and asked my sister if he could keep her forever. She said YES.

Karate Kids
I'm going to take a quick break from spreading Christmas cheer to share some love for Karate. Last night Cindy Loo Roo and Kellan the Felon got promoted to new belts after learning some "look, listen, control and focus!" Having two collegiate athletes as parents means that my littles will probably always be involved in something active. That doesn't mean that we are pushing football or tennis down their throats. It means that the Alaskan Assasin and I have found that sports has opened many doors for us in life and has been a great outlet for energy and a valuable teacher of important lessons. Right now, our littles are enthralled in karate and I couldn't be happier. It is teaching the Felon to control all of that crazy energy and it is letting him channel it into yelling, "Yes Sir" and "Hiya" while hitting and kicking the air. He gets to run and juke pool noodles and mini punching bags thrown at him, while laughing like a wild hyena. Cindy Loo Roo is learning to rip her arm away from strange men and how to run to us and tell us who did it and where he is. She is learning to hit and kick and stand up in front of people by herself and be proud. They are 3 and 5 and have goals of practicing and moving up the ranks and I am proud. Most importantly, they are having SO much fun and ask me everyday if today is a karate day. So until it's nice enough to play outside you will find us in the basement of a church doing to karate.

The Best way to Spread Christmas Cheer
The absolute best way to spread Christmas cheer and to feel it is to volunteer at the preschool. Bring a Christmas book, a Christmas craft and a Christmas snack. Help cook the breakfast with Santa and then watch the room fill with joy when the big man enters the room filled with littles. Wear your Christmas Jammie Jams with them along with fun Christmas socks. Then, sit back and watch Christmas through their eyes. It's really the MOST wonderful time of the year.

Wintery Wonderland
It's a beautiful sight. We are happy tonight. Walking in a winter wonderland. This weekend we went to the Quogue Wildlife Refuge's Christmas lights trail. We grabbed hot cocoa to keep us warm during the walk and finished by the giant fireplace inside. The felon swiped a few too many cookies and then we put them to bed with a babysitter and headed out. My girlfriend had a cocktail/ charity event for the QWR and it required festive attire, which is my absolute favorite. Any time I can wear a dress and sparkly shoes, I am there. The small plates were delicious and the company was delightful. Later on we conspired, as we dreamed by the fire... I love this time of year.
