Sunday Best

This week felt one step closer to summer and we took advantage of the sun every time it made an appearance. Our nightly walks after dinner started up again with the sun and warmth lasting a little bit longer.  I wish I would have gotten the Felon's two wheel bike practice in this week because it is really hilarious. The Alaskan Assassin and Uncle Don now push the Felon in between each other, similar to monkey in the middle, and yell for him to peddle quickly. He gets about three peddles in and then loses his confidence in balance and one of them catches him. Oy vey. I'm pretty sure this isn't how we teach littles how to ride bikes, but they are pretty certain it will work soon. I did catch a video of the Felon and his sled dog, Buddy, enjoying their evening walk and it makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it.  We also had a big breakthrough this week with the dinner time war. Roo is not a big fan of eating dinner. She loves to set the table, say the prayer and rehash her day. She does not like putting the food in her mouth, chewing and swallowing. The Alaskan Assassin was raised that you eat everything on your plate and waste nothing. I keep trying to make her portions smaller and smaller because I want her to be able to clear her plate, but eating a full meal just isn't her thing. I like to just pick at food as well, so it isn't helping our cause. The library had a play group this week with a nutritionist from Cornell and I picked her brain about our issue. She said that I needed to set a routine with all of them and it starts with breakfast, two to three hours later there is a snack, two to three ours after that is lunch, two to three hours after that is a snack and two to three hours after that is dinner. Guess what? It worked!!!! That one hour before dinner was tough because I usually throw snacks at them to keep them entertained while I cook. I suffered through complaining while cooking and then voila. They all finished their plates! Let's hope it sticks!
