A Weekend at Gurneys Resort and Seawater Spa

This weekend we celebrated my birthday at Gurneys Resort and Seawater Spa. It was the last two days of January, but the sun was shinning and the temperature was a whopping 50 degrees. At check in the three littles were greeted by the most friendly staff and handed a Jellycat, my favorite stuffed animal brand, moose. We then were directed to our ocean front room. We had our own huge balcony overlooking the waves and I could have been happy hanging out there all day. But, the ice rink was calling the felon's name and we skated until dinner followed by swimming at the indoor pool. Roo has been fighting swim lessons and claims to be terrified of pools. Something about that saltwater though, or maybe her Daddy swimming with her, shattered her fear. She was the first one in and last one out each day. She went to bed asking if she could swim right when she woke up and woke up before the sun ready to go.  That was fine by me though because we watched THE most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen from our balcony. The pool doesn't open on Sundays until 11:00 though, so we ventured to the rocks and trails at The End of the island. We hiked and explored with nothing but wetsuit clad surfers around us. The felon commented about a billion times about how climbing those rocks around the lighthouse has ALWAYS been his most favorite thing. We followed that with breakfast at Tillies and Pilates for me. The instructor at the resort incorporated "slo-mo" balls into the routine and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Alaskan Assassin snuck in some spa time as well. My favorite surprise of the trip was how warm the indoor pool lounge chairs got. They overlooked the ocean and it felt like you were sitting outside on a 78 degree day. Perhaps I even got a tan?  We will be back soon Gurneys, until then I'll be browsing my pictures to remember all the fun we had.
