Mattituck Lions Club 62nd Strawberry Festival

Last night was the opening night of Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival on the North Fork. This festival is a charity fundraiser that supports many in our community and beyond. It is my family's favorite festival of the summer. The gates opened at 5 pm yesterday for everyone to come in and help hull the strawberries. Gloves were distributed along will baskets of strawberries and straws. You hull a strawberry by pushing the straw through it and pushing out the green stem. With the stems removed they can make the smoothies, pies, short cakes and chocolate covered strawberries to serve the rest of the festival. Punky was in awe of the whole experience and was running from vender to vender taking in the sights and sounds of the carnival rides and games. There is a stage set up for live music with a bubble machine that lights up every littles face.  You can buy a carnival ride band for $30 and have an unlimited amount of rides or you can pay per ride. There was a booth set up where if you joined the cub scouts, you received a band for free! Here is a schedule of events:

Saturday June 18th

Admission - Adults and children age 5 and over - $5.00

Pay-One-Price Bracelet - $30 - good from opening to 6pm and a second Pay-One-Price Bracelet $30 - good from 4pm to closing; All day bracelet available at $50.00
