It is ballet recital Sunday and Roo has been practicing her "Passe and put it away" through the pews at church all morning. As happy as it makes my heart to see her passionate about dance, I get even more jovial watching her siblings cheer her on. The felon asks her to show him her twirls and gives her the eight count to practice. Punky laughs at her moves and tries to stuff pacifiers and granola bars into Roo's mouth. They have the sweetest little support system going that I am going to do my best to engrain in them forever. Today the littles were called to the alter with all the children to listen to the homily and Roo was nervous to walk away from me and to the front. Without asking, the Felon grabbed her hand and escorted her up the isle. After they were excused he took her hand again and walked her safely back to me. They might have fought over a puzzle or two in the kids room before and after that, but that moment of camaraderie made me feel like I was doing something right.
I just pulled up my time hop and my 9 month old Felon pictures popped on the screen. I miss those little baby hugs. I'm so proud the 5 year old sweetheart he has become.
