Karate Kids
I'm going to take a quick break from spreading Christmas cheer to share some love for Karate. Last night Cindy Loo Roo and Kellan the Felon got promoted to new belts after learning some "look, listen, control and focus!" Having two collegiate athletes as parents means that my littles will probably always be involved in something active. That doesn't mean that we are pushing football or tennis down their throats. It means that the Alaskan Assasin and I have found that sports has opened many doors for us in life and has been a great outlet for energy and a valuable teacher of important lessons. Right now, our littles are enthralled in karate and I couldn't be happier. It is teaching the Felon to control all of that crazy energy and it is letting him channel it into yelling, "Yes Sir" and "Hiya" while hitting and kicking the air. He gets to run and juke pool noodles and mini punching bags thrown at him, while laughing like a wild hyena. Cindy Loo Roo is learning to rip her arm away from strange men and how to run to us and tell us who did it and where he is. She is learning to hit and kick and stand up in front of people by herself and be proud. They are 3 and 5 and have goals of practicing and moving up the ranks and I am proud. Most importantly, they are having SO much fun and ask me everyday if today is a karate day. So until it's nice enough to play outside you will find us in the basement of a church doing to karate.
