Lighting Up Westhampton Beach

Last night we came together as a town to light up the Menorah on the first day of Hanukkah, the Christmas tree on the eve of St Nicholas Day and ourselves as a tight knit community. Hampton Coffee Company served us hot cocoa with whip cream and The Beach Bakery spoiled us with trays of Christmas cookies and delicious latkes. There was a gospel reading and homily by the town pastor followed by a blessing from the town Rabbi. We sang Christmas carols with the choir followed by Hanukkah songs.  At the end a fire truck brings Santa, but this year he bailed last minute so a snowman took his place. I'm so glad I live in a town where we respect and celebrate each other's beliefs. I grew up attending my friend's family Seders and dancing the night away at their bat mitzvah parties, while they were always welcome at my first holy communion and comfirmation parties. 'Tis the season to come together and support everyone!
