Mohegan Sun

Some days you need to mix it up. Surprise the littles. Play hooky from school.  Get in the car, jump on the ferry and find a change of scenery. Anytime we stay overnight at a hotel we call it a vacation. And a night at The Mohegan Sun in CT is just that. The decorations are grand, the suites are gigantic and the Wheel of Fortune machine is loose.  A hotel with a casino might turn some parents with small children off, but you can easily stay here without the littles even knowing there is gambling going down. The hotel is set off about half a mile from the casinos and separated by a mini mall (with Tiffanys and Sephora!) and food stores. We fill up goodie bags at Dylan's Candy Bar and buy Krispy Kreme Donuts by the dozen. We enjoy root beer floats and chili cheese fries from Johnny Rockets.  Then, grab a bucket of Ben and Jerry's and watch Christmas movies until they fall asleep. Sometimes I sneak out to my machine while Cole watches football and pay for our stay in a few pulls. The spa is also gorgeous and the pool is large and inviting with palm trees!  If you sign up for email updates from the hotel, you can always catch really low room rates. I highly recommend getting away with just your hubby on a Friday or Saturday and catching a stand up show and dinner at Bobby Flays.
